Communication Skills Classes for Kids
Live one-on-one communication skills coaching for Grades 2–8. Your child learns to listen closely, explain clearly and make a case, out loud and on the page, built on stories they pick.

Communication Skills That Get Your Child Heard
Reading and writing at grade level is the starting line. What sets a child apart is being heard: speaking up, writing with a point, holding the floor.
Built to Be Heard
The goal is a child who speaks up, explains clearly and can make a case, on the page and out loud.
Saying It Out Loud
Explaining their thinking in full sentences, with reasons, to a real person.
Listening First
Hearing a story or passage closely, then talking about what happened and why.

Five Skills in Every Story
Classes run on Zoom, with the lesson on Cueword's own platform, built for these lessons.
Every story: five skills, one experience.
Listening Comprehension
Hearing a story or passage closely, then talking about what happened and why.
Reading Comprehension
Reading closely, finding the evidence, and reading aloud so a listener stays with them.
Speaking
Retelling, explaining and giving a view in full sentences, with the coach and at the Showcase.
Writing
Pieces that describe, explain and persuade, written with a clear point.
Vocabulary
New words met in the story, worked out from the scene, then used in your child's own sentences.
Cue, Don't Tell
The coach asks the right question, so your child works it out and does most of the talking.
Learn Words in Context
New words come from the story your child is reading.
A Live Showcase Every Term
Each term ends in a Showcase your child writes and performs in front of you, with mid- and end-of-term assessments.
Pick the Stories
Ten stories per level, and your child picks. Each level is harder than the last.

Three Terms. One Coach. A Showcase Every Term.
Each term runs about three months, with two parent-coach meetings.
It ends in a Showcase your child writes and performs in your presence.
Term 1 · Storytelling
Telling a story well: your child reads a story closely, then retells it and writes one of their own. Ends in a Showcase: a story, told live.
Term 2 · Explaining
Explaining clearly: true stories and real topics, explained in their own words. Ends in a Showcase: an explainer, presented.
Term 3 · Persuading
Making a case: an opinion with reasons in Grades 2–5, and a full argument that answers the other side in Grades 6–8. Ends in a Showcase: a case, argued.

Questions About Communication Skills Classes
What does a class look like?
Live, online and one-on-one with the same coach all term. Your child picks the stories they want to do in each class, then listens, reads, learns words in context, speaks and writes about them.
Is this homework help or exam prep?
Neither. Cueword is a communication program, built around stories your child picks. It builds how your child listens, reads, speaks and writes, which shows up everywhere.
How many kids are in a class?
Just your child. Every class is one-on-one with the coach, including the Showcase at the end of each term. Not a small group that's called 1:1.
Can I sit in on a class?
Yes, and we encourage it.
What devices do I need for attending your classes?
A laptop with a camera and a quiet space. Phones won't work.
What is the Cueword evaluation?
A free, 50-minute, one-on-one session with a Cueword specialist. It's a dialogue, not a test. It covers all five skills (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, public speaking, creative writing and vocabulary), and you get a Cueword Report the same day.
