About Cueword

What Cueword Is

What is Cueword?

Cueword is live, one-on-one online English communication coaching. Your child builds five skills with a coach: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking, writing and vocabulary. Cueword is a product of Cuemath.

Which grades do you teach?

Grades 2–8: Elementary (Grades 2–5) and Middle School (Grades 6–8).

Is this homework help or exam prep?

Neither. Cueword is a communication program, built around stories your child picks. It builds how your child listens, reads, speaks and writes, which shows up everywhere.

What does "Cue, don't tell" mean?

It's how our coaches teach. Instead of giving the answer, the coach asks the right question so your child works it out. That's how the learning sticks.

Who are the coaches?

Coaches are the top 1% of applicants: licensed teachers and TEFL/TESOL-certified coaches, each trained on the Cueword method before their first class.

Why one-on-one?

One-on-one teaching works: educational research found that children taught one-on-one outperformed about 98% of classroom-taught peers (Bloom, 1984). Your child also keeps the same coach all term.

Live Classes

How Live Classes Work

What does a class look like?

Live, online and one-on-one with the same coach all term. Your child picks the stories they want to do in each class, then listens, reads, learns words in context, speaks and writes about them.

How often are classes, and how long?

Two live one-on-one classes a week, with the same coach all term. Classes run 40 minutes on Basic (Grades 2–5 only) or 55 minutes on Standard. A term runs about three months. We teach across every time zone in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Do classes run on Zoom?

Yes. Classes run on Zoom, with the lesson on Cueword's own learning platform, built for these lessons. Live, never pre-recorded.

What will my child learn across the year?

The year runs in three terms: Term 1 Storytelling, Term 2 Explaining and Term 3 Persuading (Arguing in Grades 6–8). Each term ends in a Showcase your child writes and performs in your presence, and each level is harder than the last.

What if my child has gaps from earlier grades?

That's common. If the evaluation or coach spots a gap, the coach fills it with foundation lessons within your 26 classes a term, with no extra classes to book.

How many kids are in a class?

Just your child. Every class is one-on-one with the coach, including the Showcase at the end of each term. Not a small group that's called 1:1.

What devices do we need?

A laptop with a camera and a quiet space. Phones won't work.

Can my child join any time of the year?

Yes, any time of the year.

What happens if my child misses a class?

Plan ahead and it isn't lost: cancel the class in the Cueword Parent app at least 12 hours before it starts, or message your coach there to move it to another time before it starts. A class missed without cancelling or moving it counts as used.

What if my child doesn't click with the coach?

Having the same coach all term is what makes Cueword work, so we match carefully. If it genuinely isn't the right fit, tell us and we'll move your child to another coach.

The Free Evaluation

Questions About the Free Evaluation

What is the Cueword evaluation?

A free, 50-minute, one-on-one session with a Cueword specialist, covering all five skills. It's a dialogue, not a test, so there's nothing to prepare, and you get a Cueword Report the same day.

Is the evaluation really free?

Yes. No credit card needed. The report is yours to keep.

How do I book?

Tap "Get Started" and pick a slot that suits you. Slots run on weekday evenings and weekends, and open as early as tomorrow. We'll send the join link to your inbox.

What's in the Cueword Report?

An overall score, five skill gauges (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking, writing and vocabulary), three insights about your child, a learning plan and curriculum placement.

Can I share the report with my child's teacher?

Yes. We email it to you as a PDF after the evaluation, the same day. It's yours to keep, so you can share it with anyone you like.

What happens after the evaluation?

You get the report and a recommended plan the same day. If you choose Live Classes, Grades 2–5 pick Basic (40-minute classes) or Standard (55-minute classes), and Grades 6–8 take Standard.

Pricing & Billing

Pricing, Refunds and Pauses

How much does Cueword cost?

Basic is $20 a class ($520 a term) for 40-minute classes, Grades 2–5 only. Standard is $25 a class ($650 a term) for 55-minute classes. Each term is 26 classes, billed per term in USD, with no annual lock-in.

Which plan is right for my child?

Grades 2–5 can pick the class length: Basic (40 minutes) or Standard (55 minutes), with the same coach and the same curriculum. Grades 6–8 take Standard.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. You pay only for the classes. Live Classes are billed per term, with no annual lock-in.

Does the price depend on where we live?

Prices shown are in US dollars. Families in Canada, the UK, Europe, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Oman pay a set price in their local currency, shared with your plan after the free evaluation.

Can we stop, and do we get a refund?

Yes. You can stop at any time, and we refund the unused paid classes left in your term. Classes already attended, missed or expired, promotional or gifted classes, payment gateway, bank and forex charges, and taxes on classes already used are not refunded.

How do I ask for a refund?

Ask our customer care team at help@cueword.com. Approved refunds go back to the account you paid from. See our Refund Policy for the full terms.

Can we pause classes?

Ask us in writing. Cueword may allow a one-time pause of up to 12 calendar days. Classes not attended after the pause ends count as missed.

Are there discounts or a referral bonus?

After the free evaluation, our admissions counselor walks you through your plan, including any offers available to you.

For Parents

Staying in the Loop

How will I see my child's progress?

After every class, the coach sends a class summary in the Cueword Parent app. You also meet the coach twice a term, and get a report after each mid-term and end-of-term assessment. Each term ends in a Showcase in your presence.

What is the Cueword Parent app?

Our app for enrolled families: chat with your child's coach, see the class schedule in your time zone, cancel a class if plans change, follow progress, and get reminders before classes and parent-coach meetings.

Can I talk to my child's coach?

Yes. You meet the coach twice a term, early on for a first read on progress and late in the term on what's next. In between, you can chat with the coach any time in the Cueword Parent app.

Can I sit in on a class?

Yes, and we encourage it.
